Jammu, Jan 20: 26th Road Safety Week was celebrated in Yogananda College of Engineering & Technology (YCET), here today in which faculty members, staff and all the students of YCET participated with great fanfare. Sunil Raj, Additional SP (Traffic) Jammu City, attended the occasion as special invitee and also delivered a presentation on 'Traffic Safety Rules & Safety Measures'. ASP (Traffic) Raj, spoke eloquently on Road Safety and its wide ranging implications in present scenario. He stressed on the need to create social awareness, broad based road safety training in schools and colleges, knowledge sharing and its management for deeper understanding of the issue and adopt requisite safety measures. He also shared with the participants on Corrective & Preventive Action, a quality initiative and approach to grapple with this issue and achieve set benchmark in road safety. Here it needs to mention that in India approximately 1.5 lakh people lose their precious lives in road accidents every year and the number of critically injured are many fold. The whole event was organized by Gear Club, Department of Mechanical Engineering YCET and was extremely informative, enriching and provided useful insight. A. K. Kaul, TPO, thanked the erudite speaker for sharing his valuable experiences with the budding engineers. Dr Seema Narain, Director YCET, Er Bodh Raj Verma, Dean Academics, Neeraj Pandita, COD, Mechanical Engineering were also present on the occasion. Er Vidhi S Singh, Chairman, JGEI and Er Renu Bangroo, Managing Director, JGEI also exhorted upon students to come forward in this noble cause and help to create a better world. |
