Jammu, Jan 20: The three-day long students' talent programme 'Udaan' today commenced at Central University of Jammu in which students and faculty members participated enthusiastically. Prof DR Gupta, the Chief Guest of the function inaugurated the event by lightning the ceremonial lamp in the auditorium of the University. Addressing the gathering, Prof Gupta stressed upon the importance of co-curricular activities, apart from studies, for the overall development of students. He motivated the students by citing episodes from the life of great scientist, Sir Essac Newton and also exhorted the students to take inspiration from Newton's life and fight their weaknesses with dedication and hard work. Earlier, Prof N R Sharma Dean Student's Welfare presented the welcome address. Faculty members namely Jit Singh Registrar, Dr P S Pathania, Senior Consultant, Prof Shyam Singh, Prof H S Sehgal, Nodal Officer Communication and Linkages Cell, Deans, Heads of the Departments, Faculty & students were present in the function. In Rangoli competition nine teams comprising four members each participated who made their works on various themes, including "Save the Earth", Global Warming, Welcome, Save the Girl Child and Udaan scheme. The participants in the poetry recitation competition and Hakim Singh, M.Phill scholar from Department of Public Policy, Preeti, Parvinder Kour, Nirmal Kumari, Submeet Choudhary, Vanshika Sharma, Niharika Sharma, Mohib-ul-Hassan, Rajinder, Mohammad Altaf, Priyanka, Himmat Sharma, Samiksha, Deepanjali, Daman Deep, Munish Ranjan, Himmat participated in the poetry recitation competition. Registrar of CUJ, Jeet Singh also recited a Punjabi poem, 'Rukh' while a dozen students participated in the solo song competition. |
