Mission Goodwill: Army organizes 'blood donation' camp at Kishtwar

Kishtwar, Jan 20 : At one hand the army is protecting our borders to make us to feel safe and secure and on the other hand the army comes forward to save the lives of innocent and poor people by donating precious blood. In one such good will gesture, as a part of Army Day celebrations, a blood donation camp was organised here today by the Jangalwar based 8 Rashtriya Rifles in association with District Administration and Red Cross society Kishtwar to motivate the local youth and citizens for blood donation. The event was also clubbed with an awareness program under the theme of 'Share blood Save Life.' Dr Parvrz Ahmed Wani , Superintendent District Hospital (DH) Kishtwar and Army Medical Officer of the Battalion briefed the locals about the importance of blood donation and its subsequent use. Besides this a free medical checkup for the visitors was also conducted by the army doctors.Spokesperson said the event received an overwhelming response with 117 locals participants and 53 army personals participating in this camp. Under this program, Rashtriya Rifles also took an unique mission of engaging local populace of Kishtwar by educating them towards the importance of blood donation and starting a drive for saving lives.While talking to "Early times" Incharge Blood Bank District Hospital Kishtwar said that 35 individuals from army today donated blood in the camp, while score of army personals has voluntary enrolled their names for blood donation. He also extended gratitude to army and security personals for coming forward for donating blood and for their cooperation with the hospital authorities when hospital authorities requires the blood during emergencies like frequent fatal road accidents. Prominent present on this occasion were ADDC Kishtwar Avtar Singh Chib, ADC Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik, ASP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom, DIO Viney Sharma, officers of various ranks of army.
