3.7 lakh children deprived of education in J&K: AISF

Jammu, Jan 20: Expressing concerns over the children deprived from education in state, the President All India Students Federation (AISF) J&K today stated that atleast 3.7 lakh children are still deprived of the basic education in Jammu and Kashmir.
During a meeting held here in Jammu, Comrade Mukesh Parihar said that out of 3.7 lakh 24,879 are mentally disabled.
"According to Article 29 & 30 Government and local authorities shall establish school to give compulsory education to each and every child of age 6-14 years but they are still deprived" Parihar stated Citing poor education scenario in the state, Parihar said that only 5 schools have been established so far and wherein merely 150 students have been enrolled till now. Among others present in the meeting were Sanjay Kotwal, Faizan Akhter, Prem Singh and others.
