MLA Nowshera convenes meeting with police higher ups, traders defer 'bandh'

rajouri, Jan 20: Keeping in view the bandh call for tomorrow given by the inhabitants of Nowshera town in protest against police failure in tracing a missing businessman of the town, Ravinder Raina, MLA, Nowshera convened a meeting of senior police and civil authorities at Nowshera today. Meanwhile traders organizations have deferred their bandh call after police's assurances to trace missing person.
"After the hectic meeting with assurances from Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP and Ravinder Raina MLA that the police is on the job and in contact with the polices of Himachal Pardesh, Paunjab , Haryana, Uttar Pardesh, New Delhi etc, the traders and locals have deferred tomorrow's bandh, sources added.
Besides MLA and SSP the meeting was also attended by Shargun Shukla, SDPO, Dharam VIr Gupta, Beopar Mandal president, Rakesh Kumar, ASP and representatives of social, religious and political organizations. Traders have called Bandh over alleged slow pace of investigations made in the missing case of businessman Gaurav Gujral,(32), s/o Chander Parkash Gujral of Gujral Chowk Nowshera since January 15. During the meeting SSP Rajouri assured MLA that police has intensified its efforts to trace the missing businessman and also informed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nowshera Shargun Shukla has been constituted to investigate the case. He however appealed to the locals to cooperate in the investigation and he also assured that they will leave no stone unturned to trace the missing youth at the earliest.
Earlier on Sunday a complete shutdown was witnessed in the Nowshera market and a large number of people assembled in the market from where they took out a protest march against the failure of the authorities to trace the missing businessman Gaurav Gujral.
