Early Times Report

Basholi, Jan 20: The visitors and employees to the Courts of SDM, tehsildar, Munsif Magistrat and Police Station Basohli may have immune to ambiance but new visitors find it very stinky as the mushrooming of the vendors and shops selling fried or raw meat, chicken, fish and etcgive out a rotten and putrid smell within the 100 feet diameter around the locality. Locals alleged that these reharies and shops remain crowded with the routine clientele throughout the day till late hours of the day where the customers besides fried fish, eggs, and chicken are served with liquor and drugs openly which they consume huddled at different hiding places within the locality.
They said that empty pouches and bottles of the liquor, plastic containers are thrown on the roads side which later get carried away by the wind to the premises of courts, police stations giving an ugly look to the government establishments. They also added these vendors have stationed their kiosks at vulnerable site which is always prone to road accidents.
It is pertinent to mention here that a person under the influence of the liquor was run over by a speedy truck on the other day in the presence of the passerby and others.
As the butcheries are just a stone's throw away from the courts complex and the wastage attracts scavengers including stray dogs, crows, vultures which at times drop the same in the premises of the court complex and even in the residential houses creati9ng a stinky look.
Locals further alleged that the traders involved in the trade also throw basketsful of feathers, body parts of the butchered animals near the view point on the Bani Basohli road which presents an ugly welcome to the first timers to the town. Many even alleged that the official dumpers of the Municipal Committee dump the garbage of the town at a place from where a passerby can have the glimpse of the backwaters of the RSD below.
It is high time that the local administration in general and the courts functioning in the proximity should take some stern action against the erring official for dereliction of duties, who are hell-bent vitiating the clean atmosphere of the sensitive area in lieu of the enticements.
Locals said that the police should tighten the noose around those who are involved in the sale of liquor and drugs illegally through the rehries.
