Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, Jan 29: Soon after a news story about Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar using a vehicle with blue siren on its top and having a temporary registration number plate appeared in Early Times the bureaucrat dumped it and replaced it with another vehicle having a proper number plate and no siren.
Pertinently, this newspaper in its Jan 29 issue had carried a story "DC or King of Kishtwar?: Official vehicle spots blue siren, temp number plate"
Following which the Deputy Commissioner not only changed his Tata Safari vehicle bearing temporary registration No. JMU AW-2234 provided to him by Chenab Valley Power Project Corporation Limited (CVPP) but also removed the blue siren which violated the directions of Supreme Court of India as well as the Jammu and Kashmir government.
As soon as the "Early Times" hit the stands this morning and senior officials read the news on the websitewww.earlytimes.in", DC Kishtwar started feeling the heat and he immediately changed the vehicle. He asked the CVPP officials to take their vehicle back. The Tata Safari which was with DC all these days was ostensibly purchased from the funds made available for 1000 MW Pakal-Dool Power Project.
Later Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar replaced the Tata Safari vehicle with Scorpio vehicle bearing registration No. JK06-5677, which according to the sources has been provided to him by the GVK power limited executing agency of 850 MW Rattle Power project at Drabshala Kishtwar. The construction work on Rattle power project is under suspension and the ball is presently in the court of DC Kishtwar itself, sources added.
They said the DC Kishtwar is presently having four vehicles at his disposal including an Innova, unregistered Tata Safari, the Scorpio and the Zylo provided by the government.
The sources said the vehicles, which DC uses, are either provided by GVK limited, NHPC or by the CVPP.
