jammu, Jan 31: A group of 25 elderly persons from the Doda in Jammu and Kashmir got a chance to witness the 66th Republic Day function in New Delhi and also meet President Pranab Mukherjee as they were taken on a tour by the Army.
The tour was organised by the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion Sohanda, under the Delta Force, as part of an endeavour to acquaint locals with the cultural diversity and the rapid strides of development and progress made by the country, a defence spokesperson said.
The group yesterday got back from the tour and was received by General Officer Commanding, 16 Corps, Lt Gen KH Singh at Dharmund Military Garrison in Ramban district.
During the tour, the group visited various places of cultural, religious and historical interest in the country.
The highlight of their travels was an interaction with President Pranab Mukherjee and they also witnessed the Republic Day parade in Delhi, the spokesperson said. |
