JAMMU, Jan 31: Government Degree College (GDC) Ramnagar today qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing annual inter-college tournament, organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus ground, here. In the quarterfinal, played today, GDC Ramnagar trounced the combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of Law and Sciences by 19 runs. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Ramnagar set a target of 147 runs for seven wickets, which, in reply, PG could not chase. In the given 20 overs, PG made 127 runs losing eight wickets. Jeevan played fine innings of 31 runs off 19 deliveries hitting five fours while Tilak Raj (28 off 21 balls, 6x4) and Rohit Sharma (22 off 14 balls) were other main contributors to the total. From PG Law and Sciences, Vikram Chib emerged as most successful bowler with three for 22 in four overs while Arun Singh, M Rana and S Malik shared apiece each. Later, PG Law and Sciences exhausted their quota of 20 overs for 127 runs with two wickets in hand. Arun Singh was highest scorer with 32-ball 32 runs. Varun and Vikram contributed 13 and 11 runs respectively. Ajesh and Parveen Singh took two wickets each from GDC Ramnagar. Jaswinder and Tilak Raj shared apiece each. Today's match officiated by the technical penal comprising Sadiq Hussain, Saleem-ur-Rehman, Raj Kumar and Vijay Dogra. NEXT MATCH: Government Medical College (GMC) shall take on GDC Poonch in semifinals on February 2. |
