early times report Jammu, Jan 31: Naveen Shiksha Kendra High School, Channi Himmat, Jammu, being run by Savera an NGO, conducted a mid session review of the scheme "Each One Teach at least One" under taken by about 100 students of the schools hailing from the slums of Jammu. These students were sponsored by Rotary Club Jammu City District 3070, in association with Global Dream Project, Lucknow. S.C. Khajuria from the Global Dream Project interacted with the mentors and the learners and re emphasised the effective usage of the given module so that with an average 20 - 30 min. session with a learner, it takes just 30 days to take a learner from being completely illiterate to being able to read a newspaper and usher in a new dawn. This will definitely boost up the self esteem of those who have never been to the school and at the same, will provide great happiness of Giving to their mentors, said Khajuria. Adeep S. Mehta, Rotarian, profusely appreciated the involvement of students to take up the cause of education for those who miss the opportunity. Healing commended their teachers Kirney Kumari and Anjali Gupta along with the Principal. The Principal of the school M.S. Bali highlighted that all these 100 students from the slums is the first generation getting exposed to the realms of education, and majority of these students have under taken the onus of educating their parents and grand-parents, under the kind gesture of Rotary Jammu and Global Dream Lucknow. |
