| SIT implicated innocents to appease their political bosses: Former Mayor | | 'NC goons wanted to grab their businesses' | |  'SIT probing Chopra Murder case alike Bedi Commission'

Jammu, Feb 3: A day after court acquitted the businessman Nagar Singh, former MLC Tarlochan Singh and others in the infamous Chopra murder case, former Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation and senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Narinder Singh Jamwal today alleged that innocent people were implicated by Special Investigation Team (SIT) of police at the behest of their political masters, who wanted to "grab the businesses" of these people in Jammu. Castigating the ousted NC-Cong regime headed by Omar Abdullah, former Mayor while talking to Early Times said that during their six year stint, political goons of NC in Jammu, orchestrated plots to implicate renowned businessmen. "Consequently some were framed in false cases while some others foiled their designs by hectic attempts", he said. Raising finger over the working of police SIT, he said that huge public-money and time was wasted by these SIT members but the real culprits behind infamous Chopra murder case were still roaming free.
"Why action cannot be taken against these types of enquiry committees, whether legal or departmental, which are aimed to save real culprits and befool masses", he asked.
He appealed Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court to handover the Chopra murder case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and also order a probe into the role of SIT which falsely implicated some people on behest of their political bosses.
Drawing a parallel between Special Investigating Team (SIT) probing infamous Chopra murder case and H.S Bedi commission constituted for Haji Yousuf mysterious death, former Mayor said that both were politically motivated with a sole motive to save real culprits by taking common masses for a ride. Singh said that in much publicized Haji Yousuf murder case a one man commission headed by retired H S Bedi had given clean chit to former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah but the moot question still persisted, who was real culprit behind the death of Haji Yousuf's mysterious death. "In the same way, five innocent human lives in the form of RB Chopra, his wife Madhu Chopra, daughter Solani Chopra and two servants were cut short by gruesome murder but the real culprits behind the gruesome murder are still unknown," he said.
