Early Times Report jammu, Feb 3: With much publicity Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz had announced constitution of two committees for starting membership drive in both Jammu and Kashmir provinces respectively but these announcement remained only on papers because Congress workers finding it difficult to come out of the shock of defeat in Assembly polls. Congress workers have not much enthusiasm regarding membership drive so the campaign is yet to be taken off effectively. Instead of coming forward for membership drive, Congress workers preferred to remain confined to their homes. Credible sources in the Congress said that after announcement of two committee, some leaders had raised banner of revolt against Saif-ud-Din Soz so he preferred not to press for starting membership campaign. Furthermore the lacklustre approach of grass-root level workers has discouraged the leadership. Congress leaders and workers, who had enjoyed power for 12 long years in Jammu and Kashmir, were also finding it difficult to sit in opposition and to adopt agitational path. On January 8, Soz had constituted two committees for Kashmir and Jammu provinces for conducting membership drive. It was announced that membership should be completed by the end of February 2015 but the campaign is yet to take off. Former Minister, Sham Lal Sharma is the chairman of the 11-member committee from Jammu province. The other members of the panel are- former Ministers MohdShariefNiaz, Raman Bhalla, Shabir Ahmed Khan, DrManoharLal Sharma, S Manjit Singh, ChMohdAkram (MLA), Shiv Dev Singh ( Ex-MLA), KantaBhan and Sham LalBhagat (MLC). Former Minister Ghulam Ahmed Mir is the chairman of 12-member committee from Kashmir province. The other members are- KhemlataWakhloo (Ex-MOS), T Samphel (Leh), GhulamRaza (Kargil), Nissar Ahmed Khan, ShoiabNabi Lone, S SChenni, Hilal Shah, ImtiazParray, MohdMaqboolBhat, SahilFarooq and Ghulam Hassan Sheikh. The heads of these committees have been asked to accomplish the task by the end of February 2015. |
