2nd Ram Sahai Memorial Lecture Series organised | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 13: Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) J&K Regional Branch today organized the 2nd Shri Ram Sahai Memorial Lecture on "Make in India: Industries Perspective" in memory of Late Shri Ram Sahai, one of the founding members of the Regional Branch. Alok B Shriram, President PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi, delivered the key note address and Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, (IAS) Financial Commissioner, Industries and Commerce, Government of J&K was the chief guest of the function. The function was held under the guidance of Dr. Ashok Bhan, Patron IIPA, J&K Regional Branch. Alok B. Shriram in his key note address said that the prospects of the Indian industry are bright however India is still ranking very low in the 'Ease of doing business'. In this regard, Prime Minister's initiative of 'Make in India' will give a boost to the manufacturing sector by increasing employment prospects and fostering innovation. He further pointed out that although India is the third largest economy of the world in terms of purchasing power parity, the inadequacies of infrastructure poses a problem in conducting business and improvement of the system will require concerted efforts. Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, in his address pointed out that the 'Make in India' concept is likely to lead to a quantum jump in India's exports and the tiger economies of South-East Asia will emerge as the new hub for manufacturing of goods and take them to the rest of the world. The function was attended by members of the civil society, various trade, commerce and industrial associations, members of IIPA and family and friends of Late Shri Ram Sahai. |
