Has he really written a novel, ask critics

ET Report
JAMMU, Feb 13: After facing humiliation two years ago for claiming that his novel Zakhmoon ki Salgirah had been included in the MPhil curriculum of Central University Hyderabad, the former Director information, Khawaja Farooq Renzu also known as Renzu Shah has hogged the headlines again for his another novel Jheel Jalti Hai, which some of his critics doubt is his original work.
While addressing a news conference in Srinagar Amir Khan's brother, Faisal Khan revealed that he intends to make a film on the novel written by Renzu Shah and would also play the lead role in the film.
Pertinently, Renzu Shah was severely criticized two years ago when he claimed that his novel Zakhmoon ki Salgirah had been included in the M Phil curriculum of Central University Hyderabad.
Renzu perhaps did not know that no syllabus is prescribed anywhere at M Phil stage. He (Renzu) was left red faced when the PRO of the Central University Hyderabad issued a statement stating: "With reference to press release in circulation, that Central University of Hyderabad has prescribed a book of some Kashmiri author Renzu Shah in the syllabus, I spoke to the head of our Urdu department, Professor Ehsas Baig. No such book is prescribed in M.Phil syllabus."
"The press release issued from the e-mail Farooq Renzushah [email protected] is malicious and misleading. The act of some publicity hungry person circulating the mail and using the name of University of Hyderabad is most disparaging in intent. The University clarifies that no such book has been prescribed for the syllabus at any stage. At the stage of research, candidate who wishes to do the research selects the topic. The University has no role in it. Only methodology and procedure are laid down by the University. The University is still looking at the issue and will inquire, if the scholar on his own has chosen the book. The Institution will take judicial recourse if such acts of using the name of University for the sake of publicity are not stopped and due public apology is not tendered," the statement added.
Professor Baig while talking to Early Times said a student, Maqbool Ahmad wanted to do research on Renzu's novel and we allowed him. "This has been presented in a wrong way. No books are prescribed at the level of M Phil", he said.
Two years have passed since the Hyderabad University belied Renzu's claims. But in these two years, Renzu Shah has authored yet another novel Jheel jalti hai. This time Renzu Shah has managed to make inroads in the Bollywood.
People who have worked with him contest his capabilities of producing a novel. According to them, novel writing is no kid's job. But the novel is in the market and Renzu Shah claims to be its author. While, the claim cannot be contested without proofs, the axe may fall on the producer who seems fascinated by the novel.
