SKUAST organises awareness programme | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 13: Division of Sericulture, Udheywalla, Jammu under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized one day Awareness programme on "Role of Chawki Reared Silkworms to Boost Rural Livelihood" Under Department of Biotechnology (DBT) Government of India. The programme was attended by 70 silkworm growers of the village. On the onset of training programme Dr. Darshan Choudhary briefed the growers about the Chawki reared worms on double cropping system to boost the cocoon production in the district and source of livelihood generation in rural areas. He further gave detailed lecture on the scientific rearing of worms to have healthy cocoon to compete in the market. He further stressed the farmers to follow the recommendations for raising mulberry plantation. Sericulture officer from Sericulture Development Department, Udhampur V J Bhat created awareness the farmers regarding welfare schemes for the farmers to boost their livelihood and cocoon production in the district. |
