Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 13: The railway staff posted at the Ramnagar Railway Station is facing hardship now a days as some miscreants allegedly pull the 'emergency chain of the trains' at their own will putting all norms in air and least bothering about the fine and sentence for pulling emergency chain for any specific reason. But who cares?
Some awared locals said alleged that the matter is very much in the notice of the Railway Police Force and also to Government Railway Police but no action yet has been taken against any miscreant which further is encouraging such elements.
As per reports, the trains including Malwa Express, Jammu Mail, Bhumi Express which have Ramnagar on their routes too face similar problem as miscreants have become habitual of pulling 'emergency chain' at their choice putting other passenger to feel the burnt.
"As soon as the train was given green signal, somebody pulls the alarm chain, thus put the passengers in general and railway staff in corner," an aggrieved railway employees said and lamented the chain puller even have no specific reason to pull emergency chain.
Though the pulling of the alarm chain without any reason is a punishable crime but the same has recently gone unabated as the concerned law enforcement agencies viz. GRP and RPF are allegedly acting as a 'mute spectator'.
A senior officer of the GRP when contacted said that the matter would be verified and accused to be booked accordingly.
Pertinent to mention that Section 141 of the Railways Act, 1989 deals with needlessly interfering with means of communication in a train. If a person, without reasonable and sufficient cause, makes use of any means provided in a train for communication between passengers and the railway servant, he/she shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with a fine which may extend to Rs 1,000, or both.
