District admn takes measures to decongest main hubs of Rajouri city

Rajouri, Feb 28: To make Gujjar Mandi Chowk, Abdullha Bridge and Mini Secretariat areas, the hub of Rajouri city, free from frequent hours long traffic jams, district administration and district police has taken several measures in consultation with the inhabitants of the city and concerned officials.
"These measures include lifting of wrongly parked vehicles and opening of new link road which will connect old city with district hospital via Bela colony thus reducing more than 60% traffic load via Abdullah Bridge and Gujjarmandi Chowk to district hospital, official sources said.
Deepti Uppal , Deputy Commissioner Rajouri and SSP Rajouri Dr Haseeb Mughal who recently had joined Rajouri held series of meetings with stake holders and prominent citizens to resolve the issue of frequent traffic jams on these areas.
SSP Rajouri Dr Haseeb Mughal, directed the police officers including SHO to launch awareness -cum- effective regulation drive against wrong parking and on first day more than 13 vehicles were lifted by the police with the help of recovery van. These vehicle were wrongly parked in Gujjarmandi, Jhulla Bridge, Panja Chowk and Jawahar Nagar localities causing bottlenecks for smooth traffic.
Meantime Deepati Uppal, DC Rajouri directed the PWD authorities to make the link road operational immediately that connects new bridge with district hospital from Bhela Colony so as to decongest main Abdullha bridge, Gujjarmandi, mini secretariat areas.
On the directions from Deputy Commissioner this link was made operational within two days by the PWD authorities and was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner today.
Pertinently the new bridge was completed some 8 months ago and the then Works Minister ( from Congress) also announced to inaugurate it but later the ceremony was cancelled for some political reasons from the alliance head National Conference (NC).
"The opening of link road will provide relief in frequent jams as most of the vehicles, private or passenger vehicles which shall take this route to reach district hospital, PG College, DIET and various other government offices and vice-versa," said DC Rajouri.
