Overlooked by NC, Kalakote gets maiden representation in Council of Ministers
Expectations soar amongst electorate

Jammu, Mar 1: With formation of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed led coalition government, Kalakote constituency that came into existence in 1996 has got its maiden representation in the 25 members of council of Ministers, after facing neglect and indifference of NC led coalition government.Since the constituency came into existence, congress party once (1996) and National conference won this seat twice 2002-2008, but the constituency got representation in the council of ministers for the first time.
Advocate Ashok Kumar Sharma was the first representative from Kalakote in state assembly, later National Conference leader Rash Pal Singh won elections twice but the governments overlooked the constituency. "Induction of Engineer Abdul Gani Kohli as Minister, brought satisfaction to the people of constituency", said Dhani Ram a resident of Kalakot, adding that now the BJP high command has paved way for development of ignored constituency of Rajouri. He said that the during assembly election rally held at Rajouri the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised with the residents of Kalakot that BJP would develop the constituency without any discrimination. "Fulfilling the promises made the PM, BJP high command has given us representation in council of ministers too. Now we expect a developed Kalakot from the state as well as union government", he said. BJP leaders Advocate, Vinod Sudan hailing Kohli's induction in the council of ministers said that move has encouraged voters and party workers who worked hard for party's victory in Kalakot. "Earlier, hundreds of crores have been spent for so-called development of the constituency, but I assure drainage of public exchequer will not be allowed any cost. There will be accountability.
We will fulfill the promises were made during Lok-Sabha as well as Assembly Elections", he added. Mohammed Asif, a social activist from Kalakot town, expecting good governance for people of Kalakot said that it is time for BJP to prove itself. "The influential have monopolized the system for their own vested interest and there was no say of common man in Kalakot. It is expected that BJP end the era of self centric development of leaders and their workers", he said.
