Jammu, Mar 24: Taking a dig on arch political rival Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), the Congress MLC Jugal Kishore Sharma said that certain points are missing in Governor's address on which BJP fought elections.
While taking part in the discussion on Governor's address in the State Legislative Council, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that BJP has adopted a criminal silence over discrimination with Jammu region which it used to take up every now and then earlier. He said that Jammu region again become a victim of biased approach as an institute on the pattern of AIIMS has been sanctioned for Kashmir. He said that BJP fooled people by making hollow promises and added the BJP could no longer mislead people as its real face had been exposed.
Meanwhile, reminding past equity among three regions, he said Congress led centre and its coalition regime in state has kept a balance among three regions, he said establishing AIIMS in Valley, IIT at Jammu, and provisions of Greater Jammu and Greater Srinagar are not based on equality.
Suggesting that AIIMS should be established in Jammu, Congress member said that he is not against the development of Kashmir but Jammu till date is dependent upon Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Delhi for specialized healthcare needs, therefore, AIIMS like premier institute is a necessity for Jammuites. Besides seeking an AIIMS in Jammu also on the pattern of Central University, he sought due development of various tourist resorts in Jammu province and better facilities and development of Baltal in Kashmir, the base camp of Amarnathji yatra.
Regarding tourists facilities, Jugal Kishore said that need is to create tourists facilities at Baltal in Sonamarg which can be used by Amarnathji devotees as well as by the tourists. He also demanded better infrastructure at emerging pilgrim destination Shivkhori in Reasi district.
