Jammu, Mar 24: O P Sharma, well known painter and lens man of Jammu (J&K) participated in a national Painters' Camp held at Shanti Niketan, Kolkata from 13th March to 21st March, 2015. The camp was organized by Pegasus Foundation, Hyderabad (A.P.). Twenty five senior artists from all over the country participated in this camp. The other artists also participated in the camp included V S Rahi, Surjit Akre and Chandana Bhatacharjee from New Delhi, K S Gill, Dharminder Sharma and Mala Chawla, from Amritsar, Romesh Bhosale and Shubdha Bhosale, from Pune, Partho Roy, Sanjay Mazumdar, Dhiren Shashmal, Rajeev Roy, Subroto Ghosh and Ashish Bhatacharjee, from West Bengal, Dr. Mamta Singh and Rita Tiwari, from Dehradun, Chandana Khan and Subash Babu, from Hyderabad, Jyoti Singh, Pooja Sharma and Preeti Singh, from Uttar Pradesh, Romika Bhasin and Shaya Dube, from Bhopal. An exhibition of the works created during the camp was organized by the organizers and will remain open till 31st March, 2015. O P Sharma has participated in many International and National Artists' Camps and exhibitions at different places in the country. He has held group shows at New Dehi, Pune, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Dehradun, Rohtak, Haridwar and Jammu etc. Sharma has conducted many National level art camps and events as Convener. O. P.Sharma has been awarded by Lalit Kala Academy, N. Delhi; Indian Academy of Fine Arts, Amritsar (once for Painting and once for Photography) and Camlin All India Award. Sharma is working as Director, Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu and has the experience of working as Exhibition officer and Deputy Secretary (Culture), J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Jammu, and Public Relations Officer in the J&K Legislative Council. He is also associated with organizational work in the field of art and culture. |
