Leakage in PMSSS: JKWPF urges Govt, safeguard future of students

Jammu, Mar 24: Dismayed over leakage in Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS), the Jammu Kashmir Wattan Parast Front (JKWPF) sought state government's intervention to safeguard the futures of thousand students.
According to press release, the president of JKWPF, Khalid Tufail President the PMSSS students have been forced by the colleges to pay the fees for the course which was to be actually paid by the MHRD as a scholarship under PMSSS.
When asked about his recent moves to help these students Khalid Tufail told the media that he has written a letter to Rajnath Singh (Home Minister Of India) and Smriti Irani (Minister Human Resources Development) requesting their intervention to save the careers of these students who have worked had for the past 3 years and are now being held back by not letting them sit for the final exams by the colleges.
Disclosing the content of his letter Khalid told that "I have written in my letter that these students were selected for Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) by AICTE and were promised that they will be given full scholarships for college fees but after 3 and 4 years the colleges are claiming that AICTE has paid them less than the required fee amount and these colleges are forcing the students to pay out of their own pockets by blackmailing them by not allowing them to sit in the final semester exams.
"These students are mostly from economically weaker backgrounds and cannot bear the college fee on their own and at the same time cannot waste the hard work of 3 years by not sitting in the final exams", he said, adding that the students were feeling cheated by PMSSS, AICTE and Central Govenment these students are aggrieved over the role of AICTE and the colleges and are alleging that AICTE and these colleges are linked with education mafias and are trying to gulp the scholarship funds released by the center.
