JKAACL organizes 'Punjabi Khani Goshti'

Jammu, Mar 24: Jammu Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages organized a "Punjabi Kahani Goshti" today at the office of Punjabi Lekhak Sabha at Tagore Memorial Higher Secondary School, Rani Talab, Digiana.
According to press release, Sardar Garib Singh Chairman Tagore Academy was the Chief Guest on this occasion and Sardar Surinder Singh Seerat presided over the function.
A total of eight renowned and upcoming short story writers presented their short stories in the programme.
Sardar Popinder Singh Paras, Editor Punjabi Sheerazah while welcoming the participants and the audience said that the purpose of the Academy is to promote languages and culture in the region for which it is organizing a number of such programmes. He added that the aim of the academy is to give platform to the new and upcoming talent in the state.
The short stories of Kanwal kashmiri, H S Sagar, Baljit Raina, Dr. Manojit, Dr. Mamta Rani, Prof. surinder Seerat, Gurjinder Singh and Hardeep Singh Deep were among the creations presented and interacted upon after their completion. The stories mainly associated with the current concerns of the society were the main attraction of the stories.
The Chief Guest Garib Singh, Surinder Seerat and Dr. Sushil Sharma presented their impressions about the stories presented. Surinder Seerat elaborated that the efforts of the Cultural Academy should be applauded that it's instrumental in bringing up the languages like Punjabi and other local languages largely spoken in the region. S. Devinder Vishavnagrik, President of the Punjabi Lekhak Sabha in his address said that the organizations play a vital role in promotion of the local languages and appealed that the children should be given exposure of their mother tongue at homes as well at educational levels during their elementary education period. He appealed to the Tagore Academy authorities to provide opportunity to the children to learn Punjabi. He thanked the Academy for organizing this at Punjabi Lekhak Sabha Office premises. The programme was conducted by Kamaldeep Singh, a Scholar, Jammu University. Vote of Thanks was extended by President Punjabi Lekhak Sabha Jammu.
