Early Times Report

MENDHAR, Mar 24 : The alleged absence of block development officer (BDO) from his office in the town here today triggered a protest by locals. The protesters alleged that Mendhar BDO was not coming to his office for the past five days as a result of which they had been suffering a lot. "We come here from remote areas of Mendhar to get our applications marked, take ward certificates and in connection with other works but it pains us a lot when we don't find the BDO in his office," they added. Mohammad Rafiq of Topa said he was coming to the BDO office for the past five days but had to return home without getting his word done. "I had constructed a water tank at the cost of Rs 50,000 about two years back in the village under MGNREGA. The BDO office has so far released only Rs 18,000 while the rest of the amount is yet to be released," he added. He alleged that an official had taken Rs 10,000 from him as bribe to get the money released.
