Jammu, Mar 24: Director School Education (DSE) Jammu Simrandeep Singh today ordered suspension of Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Thatri Fareed Ahmed Fani after an inquiry committee constituted by Chief Education Officer Doda Ajeet Kumar Sharma found him guilty of embezzling lakhs of rupees while constructing school buildings under centrally sponsored scheme Sarva Sikhsa Abiyan (SSA) and flouting norms while withdrawing the construction bills.
As per the details available with "Early Times", Director School Education Jammu vide his order No. 95 DSEJ of 2015 dated 24-03-2015 stated that the preliminary inquiry received by his office from CEO Doda bring out the allegations of huge misappropriation/embezzlement against Fareede Ahmed Fani, Head Master while working as I/C ZEO Thatri.
The order further reads that the said inquiry conducted by a committee of principals of Doda District prima facie points to serious misconduct6 on part of the officer in handling the SSA funds. "I am convinced that the continuation of Fani as I/C ZEO Thatri is detrimental to any further action, departmental inquiry and criminal trail being proposed into the said matter" reads the order and further directed the CEO Doda to register an FIR at police station Thatri for investigating the matter from criminal angel and directed CEO Doda to submit a compliance report to him within three days, beside also directed him to provide all details pertain to the case to SHO Thatri for further investigation.
It is pertinent to mention that ZEO Fani without taking the signatures of headmasters of various schools including Upper Primary School Jagote, Bhella, Ghoroo, Middle School Tipri, Phigsoo, Primary School Bhendoga and other schools had withdrawn the bills of over 60 lakhs without their knowledge.
On the basis of complaints CEO Doda on 20th February 2015 constituted five member committee comprising Neek Ram Principal H S S Chiralla, Abdul Latief Butt Principal H S S Jatheli ,Parshotam Lal Principal H S S Dessa, Mushtaq Ahmed Junior Engineer and K D shah Auditor SSA , who after conducting an inquiry submitted its report to Doda wherein the inquiry committee found that ZEO Thathri Fareed Ahmed Fani has withdrawn money illegally on account of under construction school buildings , beside withdrawing Rs 8 lakhs cash illegally on account of SSA teachers training, while in actual the cash should be deposited into the trainee teachers through invoice in their bank accounts.
