RBI holds state level security committee meeting for J&K

Jammu, Apr 21: The 25th State Level Security Committee (SLSC) meeting for J&K was held on April 21, 2015 at Reserve Bank of India, Jammu under the Chairmanship of B R Sharma, Principal Secretary, Home, Planning and Development Department, Government of J&K.
According to press release, senior officers of Police Department, Railways, Central Bureau of Investigation, Intelligence Bureau, Fire & Emergency Services Department, BSNL, Airport Authority of India and major banks were present in the meeting. A detailed review of the security scenario of banks/ATMs, currency chests, movement of treasure in the State was carried out in the meeting.
The Chairman stressed on the use of technology in the form of CCTV cameras, integrated security solutions, security alarm system, etc. with security awareness for enhancing the security of banks. He advised the banks to review the security aspects especially security gadgets on daily basis as they play very important roles in secured functioning of the banks. He assured to extend full co-operation from his department on security matters.
D. Sethy, Regional Director, RBI appreciated the State Home and Police Departments for extending necessary cooperation to banks, which has facilitated smooth currency management in the State. He said that RBI has established currency chest in 18 districts and the remaining 4 districts would also be covered shortly so that clean banknotes are made available in all parts of the State. Since the banks are always soft targets for unscrupulous elements, he expressed hope that the same co-operation from police department would continue in future too. Some of the important items discussed in the meeting were: review of security arrangements at currency chests; review of status of security gadgets, settlement/waiver of bills for deployment of police forces, crime against banks, review of detection of forged notes and reporting, installation of Integrated Security Solutions (ISS), Fire Safety Measures, difficulties faced by banks in renewal of gun licenses, etc.
