Law School,Commerce advance in JU Cricket

Jammu, Apr 21 : The Law School and Department of Commerce today advanced into the next round of the ongoing inter-department cricket tournament of University of Jammu, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education on the campus ground, here.
In the first match of the day, Law School defeated their seniors from Department of Physics and Electronics by 27 runs. Batting first, Law School set a target of 165 runs for six wickets, which, in reply, Physics could not chase. Gourav Khajuria played superb innings of 44-ball 66 runs including seven fours and three sixes while Yashwardhan and Viran contributed 27 and 22 runs respectively. Irfan added 12 runs. From Physics, Narotam took three wickets for 24 runs in four overs while Anil bagged two for 36 in three overs he bowled.
Later, Physics and Electronics could make 137 runs for seven wickets with Varun being top scorer. He made 27-ball 36 runs hitting six boundaries. Narotam and Rakesh contributed 28 (off 19 balls) and 11 runs respectively. Vishal added valuable 28 runs to the team's total.
Meanwhile, in another scheduled match of the day, Department of Commerce outplayed Department of Environment Sciences by seven wickets.
Environment Sciences, batting first, made 108 runs losing eight wickets. Ranjan top scored with 38-ball 44 runs. Bhutoo and Rinku added 14 and 12 runs respectively. Sangram remained most successful bowler from Commerce with three wickets, followed by Gulzar, who took two.
In reply, Commerce Department attained the goal of 109 runs in just 15.1 overs losing only three wickets. Gulzar Singh made highest 27-ball 38 runs and Ayush contributed 18. Satish scored 15 runs. Ranjan took one wicket from Environment Sciences.
