Govt clarifies on new recruitment policy

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Apr 21: The Government on Tuesday said the new recruitment strategy is not an employment policy but aimed to fill 12 to 15 thousand jobs which were not referred to recruitment agency.
Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu said there is a misconception that the government has mooted a new job policy in Jammu and Kashmir. "It is not a job policy. We have to only fill around 15 thousand jobs in the far flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir which were not referred to SSRB and PSC. It is not going to be the general job policy of the government of Jammu and Kashmir," Drabu told a news agency.
He said that after the through discussions, the state cabinet reached to the conclusion that the vacant posts at the district level especially in far flung areas like Gurez, Samba, Kupwara and others, must be filled on fast track basis. "The terms of engagement need to be finalized. The government found it convenient that posts will be filled on the basis of performance and the period of probation," he added.
The Finance Minister also nullified the reports that meager salaries would be provided to the ones- engaged for these posts. "It will not be the Rs 3000. I can tell you that it will be roughly half of the gross salary which the candidate would get after getting regularized. The selection will be based on merit and objective type of examinations would possibly be held to select the candidates," he clarified.
Elaborating further, Drabu said that the motive of the recruitment policy is to provide employment at the local levels in the state. "When a person would do his/ her job in ones native area, naturally, the cost of living is low and till the candidate gets regularized, he can sustain his living in a decent way."
Drabu said that the misconception must be halted as the government is not making its recent recruitment policy as a general employment policy in the state. "Posts will be filled as they used to be filled in the past. It is only these 15 thousand posts specifically which will be filed through the recent policy," said Drabu, adding that those criticizing government must know the content of the recruitment policy before going to people.
