Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 23: Expressing solidarity for the cause of Jammu, several political, non-political, social and business organisations have called for Jammu Bandh on Friday in protest against shifting of premier health institute AIIMS from Jammu to Srinagar and other alleged discrimination with the Jammu region by the present PDP -BJP regime.
The organizations which have called Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP), Bar Association Jammu (BAJ), Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCI) Jammu, Duggar Pradesh Party, J&K Sikh Societies Amalgamate, Kranti Dal and others have supported the Jammu Bandh Call called to register protest against injustice doled to Jammu region.
Intensifying the campaign against the anti-Jammu and anti-youth posturing of the BJP-PDP coalition govt, Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and former Minister today held series of interactions with the representatives of Bar Association, Bajrang Dal, Sri Ram Sena, JWAM, JPUF, Transporters Associations and appealed to them to join and lead the movement for justice to Jammu region by lending their whole hearted support for Jammu Bandh announced for April 24.
He said that criminal silence maintained by the coalition govt especially by the Jammu based elected representatives on significant issues like surrender of AIIMS meant for Jammu to Kashmir, obnoxious recruitment policy, Toll Plaza at Bantalab further had created a lot of resentment in the region with the heat generated due to Jammu's persistent deprivation having turned into a furnace.
Accusing the BJP of abandoning the Jammu cause, he regretted that rather than fighting for the cause of Jammu region as promised by them, they maintained a compliant and obsequious posture thus submitting to whims of a largely dominant PDP leadership and playing a second fiddle to them by endorsing their policies and programmes.
Strongly flaying the highly unjust move of the coalition govt to shift the AIIMS project to Kashmir in defiance of the initial announcement made by Union Govt, Harsh Dev Singh appealed to the social and political organizations and the public at large to observe a compete Bandh on April 24 in Jammu region so as to bring home to the rulers the all prevalent sense of anger and outrage in the Jammu region.
Meanwhile in an emergency executive meeting held today, under the Presidentship of Abhinav Sharma, J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu (BAJ) dwelt upon the issue of decision of the Central and State Govt. to set up AIIMS in Kashmir instead of Jammu.
In the meeting, the members condemned the decision of the Govts to set up AIIMS in Kashmir, instead of Jammu as earlier promised by it and resolved to call for Jammu Bandh tomorrow and to suspend the work in the High Court and Subordinate Courts against the unequal treatment meted out to Jammuities. It was further resolved that if the decision to set up AIIMS in Kashmir instead of Jammu, is not reversed, J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu would be the first to take lead in launching agitation against this decision.
The J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu in one voice asked the people of Jammu to oppose this decision of Govt. of shifting the AIIMs from Jammu to Srinagar. This has further added to the discrimination towards the people by the Govt who are already facing discrimination in the matter of development, employment and representation in the State Cabinet. J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu requested the people to make Jammu Bandh successful and also requested the Political Parties to support it.
Yet in another emergency meeting held at Chamber House in the wake of announced Jammu Bandh and Chaka Jam on Friday (April 24) to assess the situation following some political quarters asking them to keep their business premises open to sabotage the Jammu Bandh, the members said they unanimously said they want to make it clear to the government that we are the traders who believe in peace and historically Chamber has always been positive at the time of any crises but at the same time Chamber cautions the government not to misuse official force or political muscle power.
The members while decided to support the Jammu Bandh for the cause of Jammu, the Chamber spokesperson said that CCI-J representatives will stage protest against the policies of the government in a peaceful manner, but if political muscle power comes in the way of peaceful protest the Chamber is ready to give them the befitting reply for which the government shall be solely responsible.
Meantime Duggar Pradesh Party (DPP) appealed the people of Jammu to observe complete strike on Friday called by various organizations to protest against AIIMS like institution in Jammu region as earlier announced by the Central Government but which was later on shifted / transfer to Kashmir valley.
Uday Chand, President of the party said that it is not first time happened but it has became a routine affir because of Kashmir centric policies. Reiterating demand of separate state for Jammu, Uday Chand said this is a part of continuous discrimination against Jammu and it vindicated our stand that till the present unholy union of Jammu & Kashmir state will continue the Jammu region will continue as a slave of Kashmir's communal politics. He appealed the people of Jammu region to think patiently why they are forced to go for strike /Bandh / agitation for every genuine demand every time which cause huge losses.
Meantime Kranti Dal in a meeting held under the leadership of its Prisident Pritam Sharma today extended its support to Friday's Jammu Bandh called by various organizations demanding AIIMS for Jammu and to oppose heavy Toll Tax at Ban Talab near Nagrota on Jammu-Udhampur Highway.
Yet in a similar meeting to discuss political situation prevailing in the State an emergency meeting under the Chairmanship of S Gurdeep Singh Sasan Chief Patron of the J&K Sikh Societies Amalgamate members flayed the BJP for its insensitive attitude towards providing basic medicare facilities in Jammu and instead of establishing another AIIMS at Kashmir, it shifted the AIIMS from Jammu to Srinagar. The meeting urged the central Govt. to immediate announce AIIMS for Jammu. Sasan at the same time condemned the sinister recruitment policy of J&K which is a cruel joke to youth framed with malafide institution to make backdoor appointments. The meeting unanimously decided to support Friday's Jammu Bandh to awake the Govt which is in deep slumber and has urged the people to redouble their efforts to get AIIMS for Jammu which has zero medicare facilities.
Meanwhile President Vikrant Kapoor and General Secretary G I Singh of Hindustan Shiv Sena also expressed grave concern over the attitude of the coalition government criticized present Govt for their decision of shifting of AIIMS to valley from Jammu. They said, "Kashmir still have reputed and prestigious institute like Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science, Medical College and SMHS Hospital but Jammu is for behind so far the medical facilities are concerned. So there is strong justification for the establishment of AIIMS at Jammu, they said and extended their support Jammu Bandh on April 24 and appealed general public to observe bandh for the cause of Jammu.
Yet in another meeting All India Anti-Terrorist Front (AIATF), state unit today grave concern over the attitude of the coalition government criticized present Govt for their decision of shifting of AIIMS to valley from Jammu.
Media secretary Prince Khajuria stated that in the meeting State President, Bharat Bhandari asked the people of Jammu to oppose this decision of Govt of shifting the AIIMs from Jammu to Srinagar. He said such a kind of treatment has further added to the fuel towards alleged discrimination towards the people by the Govt who are already facing discrimination in the matter of development, employment etc. AIATF requested the people to make Jammu Bandh successful and also requested the political parties to support it.
