BARAMULLA, Apr 23: Employees at Government Sub Centre Sultanpora Block Kreeri here in North Kashmir's Baramulla district visit once in a month to sign on the duty register, otherwise the hospital remains closed. Irony is that the authorities are in no mood tot take action against the absentees.
Sources told Early Times that, "Government Sub Centre in Sultanpora was established here before start of militancy. Three employees were posted here.
There are three sanctioned posts including Pharmacist, Nursing Orderly (N.O) and Sweeper among which two employees namely Maymoona Akhter and Mohammad Hussain Bukhari were transferred to Tangmarag and Nilsar for further duties, Sources informed.
Sources said, "The third employee Khalid Ahmad, Basic Health Worker (BHW) is hardly visiting the Sub Centre, he absconds his duties with one or the other intentions, sources added and said, Absconder visits once or twice in a month to sign on the duty register, otherwise Sub Center remains closed for weeks together.
A small village in Sangrama Constituency with a population of almost 2000 households is known as Sultanpora, which lacks all basic facilities in 21st century.
Sarpanch Halqa Sultanpora Abdul Ahad Mir said that, 'unfortunately from the day of establishment, the employees of this Government Sub Centre Sultanpora hardly visits here once or twice in a month and that too for signatures on the arrival register.
"I being a Sarpanch of this Halqa visited there today and hospital was locked at 2 pm. In past I took up the matter with BMO Kreeri, but she gave deaf ear to our problems, even though we gave a representation before the higher authorities but nothing has been done so for, Mir Said.
Now we request the Minister of Health and Medical Education Minister Lal Singh to visit the far flung areas of north Kashmir especially here to address the issues of common masses at the earliest, Sarpanch added.
Block Medical Officer Kreeri, Dr Saba said, "Basically the problem is that there is only one employee however, she added there is a total strength of two employees, within a day or two we will send a female MPHW there in Sub Centre Sultanpora.
When asked about the absentees she said, "We have already issued a warning and sought an explanation from him, he will give his reply and only then after we will take a proper action against him, BMO added.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Peerzada Mushtaq Ahmad Shah told Early Times, "We will inspect this Sub Centre and if it was found true I will put them to task, when they are being paid why they will not perform their duties.
