A fine of Rs. 10,000 was also slapped on him. According to the prosecution, Rakesh's wife Raj Kumari, aged 32, was found dead in suspicious circumstances on 24.09.2008. The deceased's mother Pushpa Devi had told the court the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Hiranagar, that Rakesh was often harassing her daughter for not bringing dowry including a car for him. One day, Devi said, Rakesh rang them up and told them that their daughter had suffered an attack and had been taken to a hospital at Kathua. He asked them to come immediately to the hospital. When she, her son Mohan and one more family member reached the hospital, Devi said, Rakesh did not allow them to see Raj Kumari on the ground that glucose was being administered to her "when she actually had died." |
