Gourav powers Law School to huge win over Geography

Jammu, Apr 23 : Sailing on brilliant innings from Gourav Khajuria, the young side of Law School today registered an easy nine wickets win against their seniors representing Department of Geography in advance in the ongoing inter-department cricket tournament of University of Jammu, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physcial Education on the campus ground, here.
Gourav hit the bowlers hard making unbeaten 92 runs coming off 50 deliveries studded with three sixes and four boundaries.
Earlier, batting first, Department of Geography set a target of 124 runs for nine wickets. Aatish remained top scorer with 27-ball 31 runs while Pankaj and Sandeep contributed 19 and 13 runs respectively. From Law School, Sohit took three wickets while Gourav bagged two.
In reply, Law School attain the goal, rather easily, making 12 runs for just one wicket in 13.4 overs. Gourav singlehandedly guided the side to win with his 92 not out. Sahil and Yashvardhan contributed 12 and five runs respectively. Lokinder took the only wicket lost by Law School.
In other match of the day, Department of Mathematics outplayed Department of Chemistry by 10 runs. Mathematics, batting first, set a target of 157 runs for seven wickets. Sumeet played fine innings of 48-ball 61 runs hitting nine boundaries and one six. Ashish added 21 runs while Manoj and Arun contributed 17 runs each. Yawar, Sumit, Ashwani and Mukesh shared apiece each.
Later, Department of Chemistry could not give finishing touch to their innings and exhausted their quota of 20 overs for 147 runs losing three wickets.
Yawar and Mukesh made 39 runs while Ravi contributed 35 runs. Sumeet, Manoj and Arun shared the wickets from Department of Mathematics.
Today's matches officiated by the technical penal comprising Suresh Singh, Opinder Singh, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Pankaj Sasun and Vijay Dogra. Manu Khajuria was scorer in both the matches.
