Lal Singh inaugurates Sports Injury Clinic at GMC

JAMMU, Apr 23: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Ch Lal Singh today inaugurated the Sports Injury Clinic at Government Medical College Jammu.
Medical Superintendent GMC Dr. Rabinder Rattan Pal besides other senior officers accompanied the Minister.
After inaugurating the Sports Injury Clinic Ch Lal Singh said the clinic would provide apt treatment to the injured sports persons as the clinic is well equipped with all medical facilities to deal with sports injuries.
Lal Singh directed the concerned to put in their best efforts for improving the medical facilities in Government health institutions and stressed on strengthening the monitoring mechanism for improving the health care system in the state.
He asked the doctors to work with missionary zeal and provide better medicare to the patients. The Minister appealed the people to avail medicare facilities in the government health institutions stressing that the Government is making all out efforts to improve facilities for the patients. Lal Singh stressed on discouraging unnecessary referrals except those of serious nature which require specialized treatment. "The concerned doctors will have to give reasons for referring the patient to the higher institutions", he maintained. During the visit at GMC, the Minister also inspected Resource Centre of Artificial Limbs and New Section of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department and inspected the amenities being provided to the patients. Later, the Minister also paid a surprise visit to the girls hostel of Government Medical College and inspected the mess and other facilities. Taking a serious note of the poor quality of meals being served to the students the Minister directed the concerned to take stern action against the mess contractor of the hostel. Responding to the demand projected by the students, the Minister asked the hostel authorities to immediately install water purifier for providing safe drinking water to the students.
