5/27/2015 1:15:24 AM

'Srinagar, May 26: Asking former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah not to forget that he was the partner of Congress when Afzal Guru was hanged, Union Minorities Minister Dr Najma Heptullah today alleged that development was stalled and economy and employment were badly affected during the UPA government. "Omar Abdullah says that Afzal Guru was hanged by UPA government for their political means but he should not forget that he was the partner of the Congress when Afzal guru was hanged. Now when Omar is out of the government he is reminded of talking about Afzal's hanging," Najam told reporters during a press conference here. Lashing out at the Congress, Najam said that many scams like coal, communication, mining, tourism took place due to massive corruption by the former UPA government. "This country was disgraced, Developments was stalled and the economy and employment were badly affected," she said. According to KNS correspondent Najma claimedthat the Narendra Modi government during the last one year strengthened the relations with the neighboring countries. "Relations with the neighboring countries have been strengthened on the basis of humanity and mutual trust. The biggest achievement is that the GOI has been able to restore the faith of the people in democracy," she added. She said that new schemes like Swachh Bharat Abiyan, Make in India, Beti Bacha-Beti Padhao and other schemes have been launched by the Narendra Modi government. "I can tell with the authority that the Narindra Modi led government has got back the country from gloom to growth and from despair to hope." "BJP government is committed to rehabilitate the flood hit people of Jammu and Kashmir. Soon after the flood hit Jammu and Kashmir last year the PM Modi released Rs 1000.It was the State governments duty to pursue the further package with the Centre," she said," she said. Najma added that the J&K government must pursue the issue of further financial package with the Centre. "If the previous government had sent some kind of package, the present government must pursue the issue," she said, refusing that the delay in approving the package was on part of New Delhi.
To a query what the Central government was doing to prevent attacks on minorities across India, she downplayed the issue stating that there was no riot like situation anywhere in the country.
"Some people made statements, but there was no riot like situation anywhere in India," she said
