Jammu, June 23 : Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, celebrated International Yoga Day. Two events were organized on this occasion including practice session of Yoga and an online Essay Competition on "Yoga: A Holistic Approach to Life". The practice session was convened at 5.15 am on 21st June. The faculty and staff members, their family members, and students participated in the practice. Various Asanas were practices. Some of the important Asanas were Sarvanga-Asana, Padma-Asana, Vajra-Asana, Bhujanga-Asana, Pashchimottana-Asana, Garuda-Asana, Tada-Asana, Danda-Asana, Dhruva-Asana, Dhanura-Asana, Shashanka-Asana, Anuloma-Viloma-Pranayama, Kapala-Bhati, Bhramari-Pranayama, 12 postures of Surya Namaskara, Viparita-Karmi, Jnana-Mudra etc. Gurmel (who is PG Diploma in Yoga from Himanchal Pradesh University and was initially appointed in SMVDU as Yoga Instructor), Junior Assistant in the Security Office, was the instructor in the practice session. He guided the practitioners regarding various Asanas and mudras. |
