Academy of arts, culture and languages or academy of anti-Indians | 'India's cultural aggression on Kashmir' | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 23: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) was established in the state decades ago. It braches were established in all the three regions of the state - Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Its stated objective was to promote the state's art, culture and languages. The aim was novel. However, it is difficult to say if the JKAACL has been able to achieve its objective. On the other hand, it can be said that JKAACL, Kashmir, instead of promoting art, culture and languages, has been promoting anti-India sentiments in the Valley. It is not an overstatement; it is a statement of fact. That it has turned out to be an academy of anti-Indians and anti-India could be seen from what transpired on Monday during the seminar on Mohi-ud-Din Hajni, a Kashmiri "scholar". It was organized by the Kashmir branch of JKAACL. Chief Information Commissioner, G.R Sufi, presided over the function and a known India-baiter Javid Iqbal was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the so-called seminarians, Awami Itehad Party Chief and MLA Langate Er Abdul Rashid asserted that the Kashmiri culture was under grave threat as many non-Kashmiris had been working in Kashmir and settled in different parts of the Valley. "The situation is alarming in Kashmir vis-à-vis cultural and religious identity. The conspiracies have been hatched to destroy its indigenous feature. We need to counter all the vested elements to save our land," he said, adding "We should remain vigilant from external forces (read non-Kashmiris) because non-local traders and labourers have been settling in large numbers in different parts of Kashmir". "I am pretty sure they are shifting here under a plot to change the demography of valley," he also said. Others who spoke on the occasion included in-charge Secretary, JKAACL Haroon Rashid, Qazi Muhammad Amin and Shakir Ahmad. Believe it or not, but it is a fact none present in the seminar barred Er Rashid from spiting venom on "non-local traders and lobourers". They listen to him very patiently, thus endorsing his rabidly anti-Indian views. The worst part of the whole situation was the stony silence of those managing the affairs of the JKAACL, Kashmir. Will the BJP ministers take cognizance of what transpired during the seminar and pull up the authorities in the JKAACL, Kashmir, for allowing a platform to such seditionist as Er Rashid? Or, will they, like before, overlook the anti-India event that took place at Srinagar on Monday? |
