| BJP-PDP Govt in J&K will complete its term: Ram Madhav | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 23: BJP on Tuesday said the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir will complete its full term and that there were no differences with their ruling partner Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
"There is always pressure of the people on the governments everywhere and not just in Jammu and Kashmir and it is good for them. This government will work with more seriousness and responsibility and I am sure that this government will last for the full term," BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav told reporters here.
Madhav also said that there were no differences or tension between the coalition partners, BJP and PDP.
"I was in Jammu for the whole day yesterday. I met all BJP ministers and MLAs. There is no confrontation between the two coalition partners. Everyone is working in a cooperative manner...It is natural to have expectations that things can be better. It is good for the government when there are expectations. But there are no differences or tension between the coalition partners," he said.
PDP leader and Member of Parliament Tariq Hameed Karra had recently termed the flood relief package as a "joke" and advised his party to break away from the coalition in the state. Trade organisations, tourism bodies and members of civil society have also termed the package as "paltry" and called upon the PDP to part ways with the BJP.
BJP general secretary said there was nothing bad in having expectations about additional funds from the Centre for the rehabilitation of flood victims. "A delegation of officials from the Centre will soon visit here to take a full assessment and then hold discussions. The state is slated to get funds under the 14 Finance Commission in good numbers. And so far, the flood relief is concerned, the officials in the Central Government will discuss whatever expectations the state government has and provide all help to the state," he said.
He said natural disasters have hit other states as well and if any state feels it had not got what it needed, the Centre would look into it.
"The central government is trying to provide necessary help to all the states. And if any state feels that it needed more, but has not got that much, then obviously the Government of India will have a look and do whatever needs to be done," he added.
Asked about the demand for return of power projects from NHPC to the state, Madhav said talks were on between the state and the Centre on the issue, as we have said in the agenda (Agenda for Alliance - the common minimum programme between coalition partners) that we will talk about it with the Centre.
The BJP leader, however, evaded a direct reply on whether the party supported the demand, but said discussions would be held on how to reach a consensus so as to benefit the state and to see there were no fallouts at the Centre.
Earlier, Madhav chaired a workers meet in the party office here.
While listening to party workers grievances, he assured them that BJP high command was committed to address their genuine issues.
"BJP formed the government first time in the state and it is committed to the development and good governance in the state," Madhav said.
He said certain conspiracies were being created by some forces in the state and asked the party workers to act as a bridge between government and general public in the state to defeat the intentions of such persons.
He assured the party workers that Common Minimum Program (CMP) between BJP and PDP coalition would be followed in letter and spirit.
"Whatever we have raised in CMP including AFSPA, NHPC and Article 370, the party will follow it letter and spirit," he said.
He also assured the party workers that central government would pump more funds to rebuild the state's economy. |
