27,456 families identified for issuance of Ration Cards in Udhampur

Udhampur, June 23:District Administration, Udhampur, in a three week long exercise has identified 27,456 families for issuing Ration Cards and distribution of ration as per 2011 census against present distribution as per 2001 census. Gram Sabhas were organised in 204 Panchayats and ward sabhas in 40 odd urban wards for 174 ration depots where lists were displayed and proposals were received for addition of new families for provision of ration. The process which started on June 1st 2015 concluded after 12 days followed by display of lists and seeking objections. Advance notice for the exercise was given to the masses through print and electronic media as well as village panchayats.
Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, while reviewing the progress on completion of exercise congratulated the ACD ,BDOs, Tehsildars, TSOs and more than 1200 officials involved with this mammoth exercise of verification of 90,000 Ration Cards and coverage of remaining 25,000 families.
It was informed that as per 2001 census ration cards were issued to 89,725 families; accordingly 27,456 more families were identified during the verification exercise thereby making the total families eligible for ration supply as 1, 17,181 for a projected population of 5,89,616. The average family size for the district has come out to be 5.03 members per family. Beyond this, the district administration has also requisitioned a quota of 4% additional ration for expected missed families on account of vocational engagement outside state or district.
Additional families so identified included 1045 in Udhampur municipal area, 1448 Raamnagar municipality, 3310 in Udhamapur Rural, 728 in Jaganoo, 511 in Tikri, 602 in Narsoo, 1590 in Ghordi, 1038 in Moungri, 1484 in Pancheri, 593 in Chanunta, 868 in Ramnagar, 608 in Oarli-Dhar, 1286 in Kulwanta, 1586 in Dudu, 3677 in Latti, 1729 in Majalta, 1998 in Khoon, 440 in Seona and 2915 in Chenani CD Blocks. The ration quota for district is expected to be enhanced by 34% after acceptance of this projection by Central Government. Administration has also submitted proposal to administrative department for supply of ration as per projected population of 2014.
