Jammu June 23: Terming the prevailing transborder, human trafficking, vehicle theft, burglary & persons involved in circulation of fake currency etc as a serious problem and a challenge for the Police of these States, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Danish Rana today exhorted upon the participants to have Multi Prolonged Strategy on place for a sustained crackdown against the interstate criminals, and sought their support and cooperation. IGP Jammu said this while chairing 'Inter State Police Officers Meet' held at Police Officers Mess, Jammu to discuss the strategy for cracking down the interstate criminals, which was also attended by the Police officers of neighbouring States of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. The objective of the meet was to strengthen the inter-state security grid, and there is a need to play its role effectively in arresting the prevalent trend. Among other prominent who attended the said meet included A K Mittal, IPS, DIG Border Range, Amritsar, S Gurpreet Singh Toor, IPS, SSP Gurdaspur, Rakesh Kouhsal, PPS, SSP Pathankot represented Punjab Police whereas S.Kulwant Singh, ASP Chamba from Himachal Pradesh. Besides Ashqoor Ahmed Wani, IPS, DIG Jammu, Joginder Singh, SSP Samba, Rajiv Pandey, IPS, I/C SSP Jammu, Nasir Ahmed, ASP Kathua, and S Randheer Singh, SP Hqrs Jammu. During the meeting it was unanimously decided to lay coordinated Joint Check Posts and Joint Raids and Searches in notorious areas, and various other measures on strengthening vigil on the border were also discussed at length. The participants in this meeting agreed to share the information of crime, criminals, suspects immediately to the counterparts so that the criminal is not able to enter the neighbouring State for taking shelter after commission of the offence. It was decided to ensure better flow of criminal intelligence, information as well as identifying such criminals. It was also decided to have dedicated and concerted efforts for synergizing the resources to fulfill the agenda discussed during the meeting. Multi prolonged strategy for joint efforts and to assign specific targets on joint information and visible results on ground will be reviewed regularly. It was also exhorted that such meetings need to be regularly conducted at all hierarchical level of the officers of these states, and performance of these joint efforts be reviewed regularly and calling out strategies aligned with the need of the time. During the proceedings members also resolved to work together in a coordinated and calibrated manner for better results and lay focus on strengthening the anti infiltration grid as well as state intelligence gathering. Meet also laid special emphasis on drug trade and a multi pronged strategy was devised to discourage the smuggling of narcotics from and into the State. |
