Palanwala, July 21 : Educational-cum-motivational tour under Operation Sadbhavana to Amritsar and Shimla for 21 Children and two teachers from border areas of Akhnoor was flagged off by GOC, Crossed Sword Division, Maj Gen Kulpreet Singh. The GOC in his address said that the aim of the tour is to show the children the growth and development in various parts of the country and make them aware of the opportunities that await them in the future. He also told the children that they in the course of their tour would visit a number of commercial, cultural and educational hubs of India which would enlighten them and give them an insight into the rich traditions, customs and culture of the country and also impressed upon the importance of the role the students have towards nation building. On the occasion of the flagging off ceremony Jaipal Singh, the teacher accompanying the tour said "This educational tour for the children from our border area will surely enlighten these children on the glorious past of the Nation, give them an opportunity to see the growth and development of the country and thanked the Army for providing such valuable opportunity and once in life time experience for children of the remote and far flung villages on the LC". The tour duration is for ten days and would return to Akhnoor on 30 Jul 2015. During the tour, the children will vis Golden Temple, Wagah Border, Botanical Garden, Gorkha Regiment Training Centre, Subathu, Mil School Chail, Raj Bhavan, Shimla and Chadwick Falls. |
