JMC starts Swachh Bharat Week

Jammu, July 21: Jammu Municipal Corporation started "Swachh Bharat Week, 2015" and organized a quiz competition regarding Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in collaboration with Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu.
The Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was the Chief Guest and Municipal Commissioner, Soujanya Sharma was the guest of honour. There were four teams participating in the quiz competition.
The "A" comprising of Siarat and Arushi, "B" comprised of Gasha and Mehak, "C" comprised of Mutkeea and Zaheea, and team "D" comprised of Sonia and Pragati. The first prize of Rs. 3000 of the quiz completion was won by team "C", second prize of Rs. 2000 won by team "A", third of Rs. 1000 was won by team "D" and 4th and final prize of Rs. 500 (consolation) was won by team "B". In addition to this Hon'ble Speaker also gave cash prize of Rs. 1000 at his own to each team participated in the quiz competition.
While speaking on the occasion Speaker appreciated the Jammu Municipal Corporation as well as Govt. College for Women, Parade for conducting such type of quiz competition to highlight the features of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. He also congratulates all the team members for doing well in the quiz competition.
The Municipal Commissioner, JMC thanked the Speaker for sparing his precious time to encourage the organizers as well the participants and he appealed not to use polythene which is the main cause of choking of drains/nallha and causes serious health hazards.
He also shared his views that during foreign visits and even some time we keep waste in our pockets then why not we show same gesture in our country/ city. The Jammu Municipal Corporation also distributed the pamphlets on this occasion for awareness highlighting how to make our city neat and clean.
The programme was co-ordinated by Associate Professor, Dr. Sania Khajuria, Dr. Hemla Agarwal, Principal of the College, presented vote of thanks.
