Jammu, July 21: Continuing staunch drive against smuggling of forest produce in Doda district, police today arrested two persons and recovered 20 kgs of banned rare medicinal herb from their possession during a surprise naka checking at Assar-Doda. Police spokesperson said that the accused have been identified as Mohd Azad s/o Sadar Hussain Sheikh and Murtaza Hussain s/o Mohd Din both residents of Dugli of Tehsil Bhalla in Doda district. "Police party headed by SI Sanjay Manhas, Incharge SHO P/S Assar under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Doda and SSP Doda, Z.N. Manhas made this catch, police said. "On a specific input, the police party of Police Station Assar during routine naka/checking intercepted above mentioned two persons and during the search of their belongings police recovered 20 Kg banned forest produce from their possession which they were smuggling from Kellar (Bhaderweah) area towards Jammu, police said. Meanwhile police have registered a case FIR No: 13/2015 U/S 379 RPC, 06 Forest Act against accused at P/S Assar and further investigation is in progress. |
