Srinagar, July 21: The state high court has directed Commissioner Secretary to Government, Health Services Department, to provide details of those doctors who got MBBS training from government medical college but have abandoned their government services in the state. Hearing a writ petition, a single bench of the court comprising Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar directed the Commissioner Secretary to furnish the details by August 3. "The respondent-State shall provide detailed information about all these doctors who have undergone MBBS training course in GMC Srinagar/Jammu and who, after their appointment in the Government services, have abandoned the posts and are not presently working in the state of Jammu and Kashmir," the court said, and asked the Commissioner Secretary to file the detailed affidavit. The court was hearing a female doctor challenging her termination from services by the government for remaining unauthorizedly absent. Meanwhile, the court granted further time to the petitioner to file an affidavit as was directed to her by the court on April 15. "In case affidavit is not filed, then appropriate orders will be passed in the matter," the court added. The petitioner's services were terminated by the government for remaining absent from services unauth-orizedly. Her contention before the court is that she did not remain absence without authorization but was ailing and had moved earned leave of 120 days to her superiors. |
