Early Times Report Reasi, Aug 29: The Uniform Force Headquarters based at Reasi has organised series of events to commemorate the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the 1965 War in the remote areas along the Pir Panjal Ranges, a defence spokesman said on Saturday. He said the month long formalised celebratory events such as homage to martyrs, felicitation of veterans, veer naris and widows, contact programmes at school, village level and centralised events are aimed to inspire the present generation on the gallant traditions of the Indian Army. He said the Force Headquarters and the battalions in close coordination and support of the war veterans will be interacting with the students, the youth and the civil population through a series of audio- visual presentation and highlight the rich military history of our Indian Armed Forces. Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Rifles battalion at Talwara conducted a series of motivational lectures for local youth and students in Government High Schools at Talwara and Chaladh as part of the ongoing celebrations of the Golden Jubilee year of the 1965 war, he said. "The aim of the event was to extend general awareness amongst local students and youth hailing from remote and far flung areas to join Indian Army after completing high school/ college", the spokesman added. |
