Jammu, Aug 29 : The NSS Unit of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar organized one day Training on Disaster Management here on Saturday. A team of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) led by Pramjit Kumar, Chief Warden and Alok Nanda, Deputy Chief Warden of Civil Defence, Jammu, gave live demonstration of disaster management and civil defence techniques among the students and staff of the college. Principal of College, Dr. Kiran Bakshi, who was Chief Guest on the occasion, said that civil defence training is important for every member of society to overcome different emergency situations more effectively and efficiently. "Youth and students especially the NSS volunteers can play a pivotal role in saving the people by spreading awareness about disaster management among masses", she said. Thousands of students in college witnessed the live demonstration of fire fighting, shifting the victims to ambulance and other techniques of disaster management by involving the NSS volunteers. The SDRF team also displayed the equipments to manage disasters and saving the victims. |
