Three bovine smuggling bids foiled, two held

Rajouri, Sept 3: Continuing drive against drug traffickers, bovine smugglers and anti- social elements to make the society free of crimes, under the supervision of Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP Rajouri, police today foiled three separate bovine smuggling bids and arrested two bovine smugglers besides rescuing 23 animals while manhunt is on to nab persons who managed to give slip to police near Sailani Bridge.
Police said, the arrested have been identified namely as Shokat Ali s/o Khadim Hussain of Nerojal (Thanamandi) and Mohd Latief of Kote Behrote
According to police, after specific information, a police team led by inspector Yashpal, SHO Police Station Rajouri laid a 'naka' at Sailani Bridge in the vicinity of Rajouri city.
"However, on noticing the police the smugglers abandoned two Tata Mobile vehicles bearing registration No JK11-7794 and JK11-4169 and fled from the spot, police said, adding, "police recovered 14 bovine animals loaded in these vehicles which were being smuggled to Valley illegally."
Police have registered a case FIR N0 439/2015 u/s 188 RPC and 3 PCA against unidentified persons and started investigation.
Yet in another similar incident police team led by Narinder Singh Chib, SHO Thanamandi apprehended one Shokat Ali of village Nerojal (Thanamandi) while taking four bovines illegally to Kashmir in Tata Mobile (JK11-3484). As the occupant failed to produce requisite documents, police seized the vehicle and booked Shokat in case under FIR No 135/15.
In another incident SHO, Thanamandi also rescued 5 animals during checking in the today evening near village Kote Behrote bridge and booked one Mohd Latief who was taking five animals without required documents needed for transporting the animals from one place to another.
The accused was booked in case FIR No 134/15 u/s 188RPC and 3 PCA.
