Increase Aadhar enrollment machines : Zulfkar

SRINAGAR, Sept 23: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali on Wednesday asked for the increase in the number of Aadhar enrollment machines in the state to speed up the enrollment process. The Minister said this during a review meeting organized here where he was apprised about the status of Aadhar enrollment and Aadhar seeding by head of National Population Register (NPR).
During the meeting, HNPR, J&K, C. S. Sapru informed that so far 72 lakh people in the state have been enrolled, where as Aadhar generation has been done for 60 lakh people. Sapru informed that presently 400 machines are in use for registration. However, the Minister asked to arrange for at least 800 machines so that the target could be achieved within the stipulated time.
Thanking for the support from various State departments involved in Aadhar enrollment, Sapru assured that he will also request his organization for more enrolment machines. While asking the DCs to involve Social Welfare and Education Departments in the process and ensure the Aadhar seeding is done immediately after the enrollment, the Minister also directed the DCs to do the regular monitoring of the vendors involved in the registration. The Minister was also informed that maximum enrollment so far has happened during the camps and the same mechanism could be used in future. The DCs assured that they can easily mobilize people to achieve the target on time if the Aadhar registration agencies can have sufficient machines to speed up the process. The Minister also called upon the representatives of various oil companies including Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation providing cooking gas in the state and asked them to increase their Aadhar seeding numbers. The meeting was attended by Commissioner/Secretary, School Education, Shaleen Kabra, Commissioner/ Secretary, Social Welfare, Sanjeev Verma, Secretary to Government, CA&PD Saurabh Bhagat, Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of all the districts of the State, and various other officers.
