Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 23: The teachers are confused over the validity of their science PG certificates obtained through distance mode from various universities. Following the orders by School Education department in August, the Directorate of School Education Jammu as well as Kashmir had constituted teams of officials for verification of qualification and ascertaining the genuineness of degrees and qualification certificates of teachers promoted as Masters.
Though the committee has so far failed to submit report but the Directorate of School Education Jammu, on 22nd of September published several subject wise list of Teachers/Masters whose degrees have been verified and those, whose degrees were not verified were given final opportunity before 30th of September.
"According to the list published of teachers of Zoology, many of the teachers who have secured post graduation degrees from Annamalai University Tamilnadu and MP Bhoj University Bhopal, their degrees are remarked as verified", a teacher said, adding that it created a lot of bafflement among the teachers, as what was the actual meaning of remarks "verified".
"What is the validity of a PG degree in Sciences subject and that too from Distance Mode. Sciences subjects require practical assessment tests and not a single university of Jammu and Kashmir give such facility", he said, adding that how the Committee verified the degrees in Zoology from Distance mode.
Another teacher alleged that these degrees were under total suspicion and everyone knew the methods to secure such degrees. "If the Education department is considering these degrees than it will be total injustice with those who have wasted two years in University regular courses", he said, adding that the Education department must made it clear the meaning of verified remarks.
A Chief Education Officer from Kashmir valley said that all the degrees of teachers, attained through distance mode in science subjects would be cancelled.
A member of the Screening Committee, pleading anonymity said that the meaning of remarks "verified", simply mean that these candidates have the degrees in their possession. "The degree in Science subject from Distance mode will not be considered and will be considered invalid. We will submit the report to Administrative wing of department, and they will take a call on the degrees taken by candidates from Distance mode in Sciences stream", he said.
