DC Kishtwar conducts surprise visit of GHSS

Kishtwar, Sept 23: The District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Saugat Biswas today visited Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kishtwar along with Chief Planning officer.
He took account of the availability of teachers and staff, teaching ability of the teachers, facilities available for the students.
He checked the attendance of teachers, staff position in the School, accommodation for class rooms, libraries and laboratories, toilets and drinking water facilities, books and uniform available to the students etc.
Biswas also inspected all the laboratories and found them in shabby condition. The DDC was shocked to see the extreme poor condition of the library with broken furniture, tattered matting and lots of garbage, for the upkeep of which he issued strong instructions to the principal.
He also issued verbal warnings to the librarian as well the chemistry teacher for immediate upkeep of the laboratory. He himself sat in class rooms along with students and listened to the lectures being delivered, beside had detailed interaction with the students and teachers with a view to comprehending the ways and means to improve the schools.
As a part to uplift the standard of Government schools in the region, the DC asked the teachers to encourage questioning by the students.
He also quizzed the teachers including principal and directed them to put more efforts while delivering lectures to their students as the standard is not at par.
He also ordered CEO Kishtwar to launch a cleanliness drive in all the schools as the unhygienic atmosphere will not be tolerated at any cost. "Maintaining cleanliness of the schools, class rooms, laboratories and play fields is a part of learning for the students", he asserted, added that "We shall together work for the overall improvement of schools. The developmental funds available with the schools shall be utilized immediately to provide benches to the students, books and periodicals in the libraries and improved facilities of learning in the laboratories."
He further asserted that the culture of attachment of teachers at the cost of education in peripheral schools shall not be tolerated at any cost and order for detachment of all the attach teachers from the school.
