Mufti chairs PDP ministers, legislators meet

Srinagar, Sept 23: Chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Wednesday discussed coalition government's performance with PDP ministers and legislators at an important meeting he chaired at his Gupkar residence.
Sources told that the chief minister had called on the meeting of his party's ministers and legislators only to stress upon them that they should intensify efforts to reach out to people at grassroots level so as to ensure that promised made with them are fulfilled as per their expectations.
Sources said that the meeting lasted for couple of hours during which CM stressed on the need to inform people about the coalition government's public welfare initiatives taken during past seven months.
The meeting which took place at a time when the PDP-BJP coalition government is negotiating a crisis like situation on the beef ban controversy, however found no mention about this sensitive issue. A senior PDP minister told on the conditions of anonymity that there was no mention about the beef ban issue and said that only government's performance was discussed.
The chief minister as per sources told the party legislators and ministers that it was a party functional meeting which as usual would be called on by the party president Mehbooba Mufti. "The party president would call the meeting of ministers and legislators after every 15 days." since she is out of country, so your meeting with her could not happen. I thought it appropriate to call you and talk to you" sources quoted chief minister as saying.
Sources added that discussed if Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani's statement in which he appealed people to maintain a communal harmony and perform no such act on Eid-ul-Azha which can hurt sentiments of other religious communities.
Senior PDP leaders and party MP's Muzafar Hussain Beig and Tariq Hameed Karra were conspicuously absent in the meeting.
The chief minister hoisted dinner for the participants after the meeting.
