Jammu, Oct 1: Advocates have appealed to the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Justice N. Paul Vasantha Kumar, for his personal intervention as the weekly cause-list of High Court cases is not updated after July month, causing them inconvenience.
The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA) president Abhinav Sharma said that he has already taken up the matter with Chief Justice of High Court and also had discussion with Registrar.
"The exact reasons behind not updating the cause list are unknown and on Tuesday, I have a meeting with Registrar in which the issue will be discussed", he said.
Expressing concern over non-updating of weekly cause list, some advocates informed Early Times that the last cause list was updated in July month and was from 14/7/2015 to 16/7/2015, after which no cause list was updated.
"Now the weekly cause list is being delivered manually and only to those who have annual subscription of the weekly cause list. Majority of advocates have not subscribed the cause list due to which they have become helpless", an advocate said, adding that the budding advocates have very few cases in High Court, for which they didn't subscribe list and were depend on online information.
"For the last more than two months now, advocates and their clients have been facing a communication gap and have to rely on telephonic communication for getting details of their case", he said.
Another advocate said that on one hand Prime Minister Narender Modi has been emphasizing on digital media campaign but in Jammu and Kashmir there was no taker of the campaign.
"Our clients or the advocates, who live in far flung areas including Reasi, Gulabgarh and in district courts were getting easy information through internet services but due to halt of the cause list, they have to depend on manual weekly cause lists", he said.
The advocates have sought personal intervention of Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court in the matter for easily redressal of problem, which would be a great relief to advocates.
